JessB releases new single 'Life is Lifing' ahead of supporting Kehlani on her Australian-New Zealand tour

Aotearoa’s JessB today releases her new single ‘Life is Lifing’, her first new music since she dropped her debut album Feels Like Home last July.

‘Life is Lifing’ is powerful R&B/rap track with a primal beat that brings in elements of funk and electronica, before a glorious closing breakdown of funk-pop over a repeated lyric.

Lyrically it is a frank exploration of the emotions, obsessions and lust that envelopes the first days of a new crush: ‘Whatever she wants yeah I like it like that / She gave me some loving and I gave it right back’.

“‘Life is Lifing’ is a tongue in cheek song that speaks to the exhilarating experience of a new relationship,” JessB says.

The single release comes ahead of JessB supporting megastar Kehlani on her the Australian and New Zealand leg of her Crash world tour. The tour starts this weekend in Perth, before heading to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before closing in Auckland on 23 March.

“I have known Kehlani for quite a few years now, and she messaged me on instagram and asked me if I wanted to open, which I obviously was honoured to say yes to,” JessB says. “She has always been so supportive and warm to not just me, but lots of other queer artists over the years. It really feels like one of the biggest opportunities of my career to be in front of a crowd that understands and aligns with who I am. I am so so grateful and I can’t wait.”

JessB has become one of Aotearoa’s most influential and prominent artists since she first released music in 2017. Her R&B-rap sounds has seen her attract acclaim from across the world and has lead to collaborations with some of the music world’s biggest artists, including Saweetie, Doja Cat, G Flip and Baker Boy. As well as Kehlani, she has also appeared on stage with Stormzy and Genesis Owusu.
