JessB releases new single 'Can't Fake It'
JessB has become one of New Zealand’s most important and successful hip-hop artists over the past few years.
Since becoming the first female MC to appear on Red Bull 64 Bars in 2017, she has since gone on to perform across the world including in London, New York and Los Angeles and at festivals such as The Great Escape, Venice Biennale and Splendour in the Grass. Alongside winning the MTV European Music Award for Best New Zealand Act, she has also attracted the attention of some of the biggest artists in music, performing as the opening act on tours by BENEE, Lil Simz and Stormzy as well as appearing on the remix of Saweetie’s ‘Best Friend’ alongside Doja Cat and Kranium’s ‘Toxic’.
Following the release of her 3 Nights in Amsterdam EP in 2020 and last years ‘FROM THA JUMP’ single, Jess has released her first music of 2022 with the single ‘Can’t Fake It’. Like all of Jess’s music, it is an attitude-filled track with her expert rapping backed up by a booming electronic soundscape. Its electro beat is reminiscent of 1990s dance music and conjures up the feeling of a backed dancefloor.
“After the 3 Nights In Amsterdam EP and two years of lockdowns I was finally able to get back and have seven more nights in Amsterdam to make some fun tracks with one of my favourite producers. A lighthearted club banger for ya head top,” Jess says.
Alongside the release of ‘Can’t Fake It’, JessB has also announced she will be performing at the Listen Out festival in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane. Tickets on sale now here.
Hip-hop is a genre that has too few mainstream artists in both New Zealand and Australia and JessB is an artist brining it to the masses. She is someone to slip onto your playlists right now.
