Norway’s girl in red has released her new single ‘Doing It Again Baby’, the second taste of her upcoming album I’m Doing It Again Baby! out on April 12.
Written and produced with Matias Tellez, ‘Doing It Again Baby’ is a infectious, indie-punk-pop track which half way through brings in both sparkling synths with the sonically opposite twangs of country as girl in red repeats the title on a loop. Lyrically, it is a song of owning your power: “I’m gonna light it up / Nothing’s gonna stop me if I say this is what I want.”
“This is the most fun track I’ve ever made,” girl in red says. “It was actually very hard to write because I was struggling with allowing myself to make a song that I just thought was fucking sick, cool and fun. I tried to force myself to write some sappy-try-hard meaningful lyrics when really all this song was supposed to be, was the soundtrack of feeling absolutely on the top of the world.”
‘Doing It Again Baby’ follows on from ‘Too Much’, which saw girl in red confront the fact a love interest was emotionally unavailable. Both tracks will feature on her second album I’m Doing It Again Baby! which will be released on April 12.
2023 saw girl in red touring with none other than Taylor Swift as the support on her Eras Tour, and from April she will head out on her Girl In Red: Doing It Again Tour! which will see her playing shows across North America.
