Lizzy McAlpine releases new single 'I Guess' ahead of third album 'Older'

Lizzy McAlpine has today released her gorgeous new single ‘I Guess’, a prelude to her third studio album Older, due to be released on April 5.
Written and produced by McAlpine with Mason Stoops, Ryan Lerman and Jeremy Most, ‘I Guess’ is a warm and personal song shot through with melancholy. With a pared back and unobtrusive soundscape, towards the end it swells into a majestic anthem with chanting vocals and a horn section before gently dialling it back to just McAlpine’s voice. The lyrics tell of the frustration, pain and loss of wanting to love someone but being unable to. “It's all about the things you want but never get / I guess it's all about trying / To love someone you've never met,” she sings.
‘I Guess’ is the second taste from McAlpine’s third album Older, out on April 5. Recorded in Los Angeles, its 14 tracks were written by McAlpine over a three year period where she grew into adulthood. It finds her reflecting on the journey and discovering her true artistry.
“The music that I’ve released up to this point in my career has been heavily produced and perfected, to the point where I don’t even recognize myself in it anymore,” she says. “This album is the complete opposite. We recorded most of it live, tracking the entire band at the same time in one room, me included. The passion in that space translates into the recorded music so much more than anything I’ve done before, and it has created a record that, in my opinion, is the best I’ve ever made.”
After the release of Older McAlpine will embark on the headlining global Older Tour, which will include an appearance at the Splendour In The Grass festival in Australia in July.
