PREMIERE: Don't Thank Me Spank Me! launch new single 'Be My Forever'
Naarm/Melbourne best friend duo Don’t Thank Me Spank Me! (Nitida Atkinson and Esther Henderson) create music that is as impossibly fun as it is sonically exciting.
Tomorrow they release their new single ‘Be My Forever’, but today you can listen to it exclusively on Women In Pop. It is a buzzy, indie-pop track with hints of both the 1960s and 1980s with some outright delicious melodies, with Atkinson and Henderson’s vocals soaring and swooping through some of the best hooks you will hear this month.
Lyrically, it speaks of that moment when you become obsessed with your crush and straight up tell them how you feel. ‘You’d look good on my arm …I’m glad you waited / I’m heaven sent from above,’ they sing
"‘Be My Forever’ is the tequila of songs for us. Occasionally you write a song that makes you feel high when you play it and that’s what this track does for us. It’s an upper!’ the band say. “It is dedicated to our mums as they have both loved hard, fallen hard, been obsessed by and are bossy with love."
First releasing music in 2020 with ‘Habitual’, their most recent single, anti-capitalist anthem ‘Hey Woman’, was released in February. Don’t Thank Me Spank Me! are an absolute blast to listen to and will most likely become your new musical crush. Tune in to ‘Be My Forever’ below before its official release on April 18.
