Sydney/Eora based trio miramar - comprised of Rosh Yau (vocals), Sam Langley (producer) and Matt Sampson (producer) - have dropped their new single ‘Highlight of My Week’ which will feature on their upcoming second EP.

A sonic departure from their previous electronic-synthpop tunes, ‘Highlight of My Week’ is a pared back, indie tinged pop track that still retains their signature soundscape with a subtle, sometimes elusive, swirl of synths and a hint of trance.

Yau’s impossibly beautiful vocal - at times yearning, at other assertive - tells of a late night meeting of minds that she wants to move into something more, even if it is only once and never again. “I’ll get the next round / If you stay now / We can talk a little more….I wish I could be everything you need / If only for the night, it would still be the highlight of my week.”

“[The song is about meeting] someone who really brightens up your world and gives you a reason to get through the day, or week,” Miramar reveal. “It’s a bit different to our usual sound, but we found the more we added to the production, the more it got in the way of that feeling. So we peeled it back to the bones and in the end, less was more.”

‘Highlight of My Week’ will appear on miramar’s second EP which is due for release in the middle of this year, and comes after miramar supported legendary English electronic duo Groove Armada in Melbourne earlier this month. In the coming weeks they will support Mickey Kojack, Northeast Party House, and Djanaba at shows throughout NSW. All info and tickets can be found here.

Since first releasing music in 2021 miramar have consistently proven they are one of Sydney’s most refreshing and impressive new artists. Leading lights in the under appreciated Australian electro-synth scene, miramar become more assured with every release and ‘Highlight of My Week’ highlights their versatility and talent; expect even bigger things from them as 2025 progresses.
