Kita Alexander announces debut album 'Young In Love' will be released March 22
Ten years after she independently released her first EP, today rising superstar Kita Alexander announces her long awaited debut album Young In Love will be released on March 22 2023.
Written in just one month in Alexander’s home town of Byron Bay, the ten tracks on the album cover the ups and down of Alexander’s life so far, from love to hardships to motherhood.
“Finding yourself in your early 20s isn't easy,” Alexander says. “It's hard, whichever path you take. But I feel like I've been able to come into myself whilst being in such a loving and beautiful relationship.”
The album contains previous singles, the epic dancefloor smash ‘Queen’, the tender country ballad with Morgan Evans ‘Date Night’, and the down tempo pop of ‘7 Minutes In Heaven’. There is also a collaboration with British artist Laurel, ‘All Night’, and the new single out today ‘Best You Ever Had’.
‘Best You Ever Had’ is an uplifting, funky pop track with beautiful melodies and dancefloor ready beats. Lyrically it is a departure for Alexander as she unleashes a stream of consciousness of thoughts you usually try and repress but this time don’t hold back and “fight back with your ego.”
“This song to me is the encapsulation of impulsive thoughts,” Alexander explains. “When feelings throw you into fight or flight and you have irrational desires to say whatever comes to mind. This song is unfiltered. Without use of my rational, logical brain. It’s cave-woman like, it’s self destructive, it’s everything I don’t like being. I don’t like fighting, I don’t like using anger and ego as a protective mechanism to stop me from being vulnerable. But sometimes it just comes out and that’s ok. To some it might seem like an empowering feminist song to me it’s my internal dialogue that makes me feel big and strong. Best you ever had is when you fight back with your ego.”
Alongside the announcement of Young In Love’s imminent release, Alexander also announces today that she will be touring across Australia in April 2024 with her Young In Love tour. Kicking off in Perth on April 13, Alexander will play six shows, finishing in Canberra on April 27.
