After first releasing music in February 2024, rising new talent Esha Tewari has already gained over 13 million streams with her two EPs i can and Better Off showcasing a collection of intimate, pared back bedroom indie-folk-pop
She has just released her new single ‘things i want’ and it sees Tewari elevate her music further. The warm, earthy indie pop is still present, but now with a cleaner sound infused with an unmistakeable 1990s indie vibe. Lyrically it sees her yearning for a former lover, or someone just like her, but is scared she will mess up any future relationship: ‘I want to find someone like you / But I know me / I'd lose her too soon.’
“Growing up I loved watching 90’s rom coms, and the soundtracks for those movies were always feel good with a splash of melancholy at times,” Tewari says. “Bands like Sixpence None The Richer, and The Sundays were a big inspiration for this song. ‘things i want’ helps me expand my world, with a more upbeat sound but keeping the same heartfelt lyrics that I’m always drawn to”.
Before she embarks on a North American headline tour mid year, Tewari will return to Australia in April for her second headline tour of the country, following her sold out tour in November 2024. Staring in Sydney on 5 April, she will perform in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth before the final show in Adelaide on 4 May. Tickets are almost sold out, get yours here now.
With heartfelt lyrics and a warm, uncluttered, connective sound that makes you feel she is singing just to you, Tewari’s music is something you just want to sink into. With her third EP due soon, and her upcoming Australian tour, there is no better time than now to discover Esha Tewari.
‘things i want’ is out now via Warner Music Australia. You can download and stream here.
