Meg Mac has today released her new single ‘On Your Mind’ alongside announcing she will embark on an Australian tour across five capital cities in May and June.
‘On Your Mind’ is an absolutely entrancing track and showcases Mac as one of Australia’s most versatile and creative artists. Produced by production team The Donuts (H.E.R., Kendrick Lamar) it is a song that expertly sidesteps genre, with elements of jazz, soul and R&B with electronica and trance thrown in.
“I sent the Donuts a simple vocal and piano demo and some references for the mood I was thinking,” Mac says. “But it was pretty loose, they could do whatever they wanted. One day they sent a video from the studio of a tiny snippet, I played it on repeat I was so obsessed. They tore it apart and flipped it completely, when I heard the full song I was so confused and excited. My backing vocals had become the chorus, they chopped up all these vocals, moved everything around, changed all the chords.”
‘On Your Mind’ is the follow-up to power ballad ‘Is It Worth Being Sad’, Mac’s stunning return to music earlier this month.
Today Mac has also announced she will be touring across Australia in May and June, her first live shows in two years. Hitting five capital cities, the tour will end at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Vivid Festival.
Mac has always been an artist with an ability to create music that deeply connects, but with her latest releases she has significantly raised the bar. With her powerful vocals sounding their absolute best, mixed with a soundscape that is unique and ever changing, Mac feels like an artist reborn with her creativity undeniably on fire. With more music to come this year each new Meg Mac release is going to be an experience to savour.
