VIDEO PREMIERE: Amaya Laucirica's new single 'Now or Never'

Australian singer-songwriter Amaya Laucirica returns tomorrow with her new single ‘Now or Never’ and today you can listen to it and watch the video exclusively on Women In Pop.
A gorgeously dreamy, gentle pop song that has echoes of 1980s dreampop and synthpop with Laucirica’s vocals bringing a subtle emotional texture to the track that pulls at the heartstrings through nuance instead of power.
The song looks at growing older and embracing fear to push forward in all aspects of life, with the reassurance that everything will be okay. ‘And this feeling it won’t last forever / And this feeling will subside,’ Laucirica sings.
The music video was directed by Laucirica’s long term collaborator Geoffrey O’Connor and features her performing in the song in a wide open space watched by a sole person - her daughter.
“For the film clip I worked with Geoffrey O’Connor who has made three film clips for me in the past,” Laucirica says. “The idea was basically to film a live performance of the song. But I wanted it to be slightly grand, so when we came across the Norla Dome as a location it suited the bill perfectly. It’s a heritage listed building in Docklands (in Melbourne) and it has a lot of character. I had this idea that there would be one audience member watching the performance for the whole time and that’s where my daughter came into play. She kind of becomes a part of the stage performance being lit from the skylight at the top of the dome. I really like how there are moments in the video where she plays with the shadow and light, as it mirrors the dark and light aspects of the song. ‘Now or Never’ is a song about embracing change and moving forward.”
Laucirica has been releasing music since 2008 and has encompassed rock, indie, folk, psychedelia and pop. ‘Now or Never’ is her first released since her acclaimed 2018 album Rituals and will feature on her upcoming, much anticipated fifth album.
