Saras releases new melancholy pop track 'Whiplash'

Los Angeles based artist Saras today releases new single ‘Whiplash’, an addictive, electropop track that weaves a story of heartbreak through its deceptively vibrant melodies and beats.

Against swirling synths, pure pop vibes and soaring vocals ‘Whiplash’ relates the struggles of being in a unhealthy relationship: ‘I fell hard for Dr Jekyll but I’m living with Hyde / Who won’t even blink when he’s the one who’s making me cry’ she sings. “‘Whiplash’ is about the confusion of wanting someone who doesn’t know what they want and the pain of trying to cope with their changing mind and drastic mood changes,” Saras says of the inspiration behind the track. “This song is about something really specific in my life but it's also really relatable because often when the ground underneath our feet falls away, we’re all just expected to keep on walking. How? I wrote this song two years ago with a friend after a really tough breakup. It was a long night but it taught me a lot about how love should, and shouldn’t, feel.”

Saras has released a number of singles over the past 12 months including last August’s ‘Pretty While You Kill Me’. Informed by her nomadic and international upbringing (she attended 14 different schools growing up) and inspired by artists such as the Spice Girls, Lady Gaga and Billy Joel, her music is personal, intimate, upfront and through both her lyrics and melodies has the power to connect deeply with you as you listen.
