Samantha Jade returns with new single 'Back 2 Back'

One of Australia’s most beloved singer-songwriters Samantha Jade has returned with her first new music since the beginning of the year with the single ‘Back 2 Back’.

Co-written by Jade and her long-time collaborator Carmen Reece (Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony) and produced by G’harah “PK” Degeddingseze (Paloma Faith, Nicole Scherzinger), ‘Back 2 Back’ is a classic pop track that sees Jade embrace a gentler, R&B vibe backed by a mellow electro beat in a song that celebrates friendship and female comradeship, a message that is perhaps never more important in our lives than in 2020. “I wrote this song about the importance of the sisterhood and the bond between women that is real and strong,” Jade says. “When we stand by each other through the highs and the lows, we are celebrating each other and there is an unspoken empowerment. We are daughters, mothers, sisters, aunts, nans, lovers, friends; we are united. Friends are the foundation of our lives and our safe place to be accepted for being our true and authentic selves. I believe there is incredible strength in kindness towards each other, especially with your friends that just 'get you’ and that always have your back.”

The beautiful music video for ‘Back 2 Back’ is also released today, directed by Bonnie Hansen. It celebrates women who have achieved huge success in their chosen field, including Rachael Finch, Suzan Mutesi, Emma Watkins (from The Wiggles) and Jules Sebastian. “When women support each other, incredible things truly happen and I wholeheartedly believe that happened for this video – I was so honoured to be joined by such strong and kind females,” Jade says of the creation of the music video.

Bubbling over with sublime melodies - we highly doubt the thoroughly addictive refrain ‘back to back to back’ will escape your head for days - and presided over by Jade’s remarkable vocals, ‘Back 2 Back’ is another high point in Jade’s career. It showcases her remarkable, and often underrated, musical versatility and ability to authentically inhabit any sonic soundscape she turns her hand to, with ‘Back 2 Back’s R&B vibe following up the urban, tropical dance of ‘In The Morning’ and the electro pop of ‘Bounce’ (which has close to 5 million streams to date).
