Australian country-pop artist Rachael Fahim has returned with her new single, the bittersweet ballad ‘Good Luck’.

The follow up to November’s ‘Dance Around It’, ‘Good Luck’ was co-written with James Johnston and mixes country sounds with elements of the traditional pop heartbreak ballad, with Fahim’s emotive vocal expertly treading the line between melancholy, pain and hope for the future.

The song was inspired by Fahim’s relationship falling apart when her partner broke up with her to get back with his ex-girlfriend. Despite the heartache, the song sees Fahim understanding the pain is tempered by the realisation that the relationship was never the right thing in the first place: ‘The love was in my head / But never in my chest / But finally I see it,’ she sings.

Created at a writing camp, the emotion of the song overwhelmed Fahim to the extent she had to escape to the bathroom and break down the entire story to her friend - not realising the song‘s subject was in the adjoining unisex stall. “It was mortifying, but it really gave me the drive to go back into the room and write the rest of the lyrics,” Fahim says. “It was so hard to pull all that out of myself, but I knew we had nailed the song, and it gave me closure on the whole experience. Songwriting is like my diary. I might be letting people in too deep, but I just have to be vulnerable. When I write about heartbreak and other things I’ve been through, it’s like I’ve taken the weight of those feelings and experiences off me and captured them into the song”.

After supporting Dean Lewis on his sold out national Australian and New Zealand The Epilogue World Tour, this week Fahim will be kicking off her very first headline tour around Australia with support from Missy Lancaster. The first show is in Brisbane on 31 January before the tour wraps in Perth on 28 February.

Fahim has scored over 12 million global streams in her 10 year career and has been one of the highest streamed Australian female country artists for the past three years, second only to Kasey Chambers. In 2017 she won the Tamworth Country Music Festival’s Toyota Star Maker Award and has performed at SXSW USA and CMC Rocks festivals. An artist that is just getting better and better with every year, ‘Good Luck’ is another high point in Racheal Fahim’s career and augurs well for 2025 being one of her best years yet.
