PRICIE returns with new single 'Big Girls'
Rising Australian R&B/pop/rap artist PRICIE today returns with her new single ‘Big Girls’, from her upcoming debut EP.
Co-written by PRICIE with Caleb Hodges and co-produced with her long term collaborator Lucianblomkamp, ‘Big Girls’ starts off with PRICIE singing in her native Nigerian dialect Edo, before trumpets and a primal beat and piano kick in giving the track an overall jazz-pop vibe. Powerful vocals in the chorus is teamed with rapping in the verses as PRICIE sings about showing up for yourselves: ‘you know I can’t stand dancing on my own / Big girls need some loving too.’
"’Big Girls’ is the song I wrote after a frustrating session of lockdown and binge eating as well binge watching everyone’s favourite show Euphoria,” PRICIE says. “The song was written from the perspective of the character Kat with a touch of my own personal feels and realisations. There was an episode where Kat didn’t feel she deserved love or the type of attention her other ‘sexier’ friends garnered without identifying as another entity. I felt deeply connected to that as I have struggled all my life like most with some or most forms of an eating disorder, I wrote it because I felt people like Kat and myself deserve to show up as ourselves and stand in the big girl power. As we are."
Ever since bursting onto the scene with her debut solo single ‘too dang good’ in 2021, PRICIE has become one of the hottest new talents in Australian music today. High profile collaborations have included with Genesis Owusu on her second single ‘Friendzone’ and she recently featured on the Isabella Manfredi single ‘Naive’ from Manfredi’s debut solo album Izzi. With global support from outlets such as Billboard, BBC Radio 1 and SPIN, her recent set at Splendour In the Grass caught the attention of headliners Tyler, the Creator and Jack Harlow and is a clear indication of the incredible talent and star power PRICIE possesses.
PRICIE creates music you cannot help but fall in love with. Empowering, anthemic, intelligent as well as just a bucketful of fun, her debut EP, as well as an upcoming national tour, are both going to be highlights of the coming months from an artist who is just getting started.
