PREMIERE: Sarah Cherlin's new single 'Small Machines'.

Today Women In Pop premiere the latest single from Sarah Cherlin ‘Small Machines’. A driving, piano driven pop track, there are elements of folk, indie and 90s shoegaze in its sweeping melodies and lilting harmonies. The song was written, produced and recorded by Cherlin and her partner James Seymour

Inspired by the integration of artificial intelligence into our daily lives, the song explores individual insignificance, anonymity and connection. “Being part of such a global society makes us very susceptible to being reduced to statistics or quantifiable labour, i.e. small machines,” Cherlin explains. “Small because we don’t seem to matter all that often on a larger scale, machines because we do seem to matter when it comes to what we can produce and consume. That could feel very pessimistic because on an individual level it’s frustrating and tiring, but it’s also weirdly connecting, because I think a lot of us feel like that.”

‘Small Machines’ will be officially released on September 25, but until then you can listen to it exclusively on Women In Pop. Click below and bliss out!
