PREMIERE: Nuria launches new single 'Juliette'
Tasmanian indie pop singer songwriter Nuria is releasing her new single ‘Juliette’ this Friday 23 April but today you can listen exclusively to the track right here on Women In Pop.
‘Juliette’ is a lushly produced, dramatic ballad with soaring vocals set to a brooding backbeat which has elements of classical music, pop and indie. It is the perfect showcase for Nuria’s classical training in piano and vocals.
“Juliette is a song about infatuation. That feeling of wanting somebody so badly it hurts, all you can think of is them, all you dream about is them,” Nuria says. “It’s all-consuming and intoxicating and it feels like a disease that’s come over you and that one person is the only cure. The ideas behind the song were about that totally over the top, dramatic, whole body feeling, and I wanted that to be reflected in the production that carried it. Melbourne based Sam Phay worked his magic in just the way I hoped, bringing all the drama and intensity out with his huge orchestral swells, rich strings and atmospheric percussion.”
Nuria, real name Anna Maynard, is a seasoned performer who has performed at Cygnet Folk Festival, Nannup Folk Festival, Top Half Folk Festival amongst others and has also been the support act for Waifs. She released her debut album Alive last year and received radio play across the country including on ABC. Her second album is due to be released later this year and promises to be a highlight.
‘Juliette’ will be out tomorrow, but for now you can listen to the track exclusively below.
