PREMIERE: Jodi releases music video for new single 'Night Drive'

Sydney based singer-songwriter-producer Jodi is an exciting new talent who creates captivating music that meets at the border of electronic dance-pop and indiepop.

In October she released her infectious new single ‘Night Drive’. Written and produced by Jodi with Jared Higgs (Purple Drapes), the track is a stylish, electronic track that, perhaps fittingly, oozes with a night time drive vibe, with its beats taking on a moody, dark feel. Lyrically it talks of desire and the need for that crush that is out of your reach…for now: “I want to give her all that she’s been missing out / Is it it crazy I fell for this queen I haven’t met….damn I need her loving.”

Today Jodi launches the music video for ‘Night Drive’ exclusively on Women In Pop. Created by Jodi and James Tarbotten, and filmed by Tarbotten, the video was shot at North Bondi and features Jodi driving the streets at night and performing in a car park.

“This the closest thing I can visualise in reality what my mind created when we wrote ‘Night Drive’, Jodi says. “I visualised a highway in space, made up of pinks and purples, intergalactic visions inspired by the artist & songs we were drawn to at the time: Dua Lipa, Doja Cat, Men I Trust, Empire of the Sun, Daft Punk, Frank Moody. This music video captures the adventure, the mystery, and the beauty of golden hour, made cinematic by the track.”

Jodi has reached a high point in her career with ‘Night Drive’. It is a glorious pop track full of lush melodies, a beautiful electronic soundscape as well as a structure that is constantly slipping in different feels - a hint of trip hop here, a dash of indie there - that keeps the song enthralling to the very last note.
