MARSHES releases new single 'Beaches'
Sydney singer-songwriter and DJ MARSHES today returns with her third single of 2020, the hypnotic ‘Beaches’. A deliciously warm pop track with an electropop base co-written with Thief (Jessica Mauboy, Noah Cyrus) and produced by Xavier Dunn, like all of MARSHES’ track there is a beautiful humanity and empathy about the track that instantly connects with you, making MARSHES’ story your own.
Recalling the breakdown of a long term relationship, the lyrics showcases MARSHES’s way with words, which has always been one of the most special parts of her music. Smart, insightful and poetic, she uses the analogy of ‘there’s too many beaches between us’ to explain the distances between the two lovers and the good intentions that eventually become insurmountable challenges: ‘Words don’t cost you anything / You spend and spend while my heart goes broke’. “There’s too many beaches between us is the nice way of confronting a long distance lover with the reality that this isn’t going to work long term,” she says. “Logistics take the cake. What I love about this song is it was written simply on an acoustic guitar and here it sits so well in a new world. I’m excited for the change up.”
With three singles under her belt this year, 2020 has seen MARSHES prove to be one of the most talented and exciting new artists in the Australian music scene since she made her breakthrough in 2019 with debut single ‘M.I.A.’ With her music ever evolving and growing more and more confident in her sound, MARSHES is an artist that should be on everyone’s radar. This is pop music at its very best - tune in now and bliss out.
