Jade releases second solo single 'Fantasy'

Jade of Little Mix fame today releases her second solo single ‘Fantasy’. It comes off the back of her first single ‘Angel Of My Dreams’ that received near universal critical acclaim and peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles chart.

Written by Jade with Mike Sabath (Little Mix, RAYE, Madison Beer) and Pablo Bowman (Bebe Rexha, Mimi Webb, Anne-Marie) and produced by Sabath, ‘Fantasy’ continues the experimental sound of ‘Angel Of My Dreams’ while sliding into a more traditional pop structure. Beginning with swirling sonics and a gradually more prominent beat, it erupts into a delicious disco infused electropop chorus before switching into a rap-R&B verse, interspersed with moments of funk and Jade showing off the incredible range of her voice. The last minute of the song morphs into the classic 1970s disco sound with production that makes the vocals less prominent giving full range to the glorious., funky beat.

Lyrically the song is a ‘safe space’ to explore sexual fantasies: ‘Your ideas are welcome here / We can go too far, we can be bizarre and we'll always make it hot,” she sings. It is, she told The Face recently, “about sexual fantasies and feeling safe enough with someone to tell them what you want to do – kind of like a love song, but a fun, kinky one.”

After becoming one of the biggest pop stars of this generation as part of Little Mix, Jade the solo artist is proving to be perhaps even bigger than ever. With an almost preternatural genius for pop music, and an ability to bring truly refreshing and unique sounds to pop, her debut solo album is due to drop next year and is almost guaranteed to be a masterpiece.
