Griff and Sigrid team up on single 'Head on Fire'
The UK’s Griff and Norway’s Sigrid, two of the most acclaimed young artists in pop today, have teamed up to write and record the duet ‘Head on Fire’.
An anthemic, uplifting pop song with a driving beat, 80s tinged synths, glorious vocals and absolutely delicious melodies, it is a perfectly crafted pop song that is sure to become your obsession for the foreseeable future.
“Griff and I met sharing a pizza at the Rueben Selby show at Fashion Week in London,” Sigrid says. “We went to the studio a while later and just had a day of talking about life, before writing ‘Head On Fire’. It’s about that feeling when you meet someone who just flips everything upside down and you can’t focus on anything else but that person. Sarah’s just lovely, and it’s been so much fun working with her.”
“I’ve looked up to Sigrid so much, especially as a young girl who broke through making powerful, credible pop music,” Griff adds. “So I was excited to hear she wanted to write. We hung out and made ‘Head On Fire’, this really fun, feel-good song, and I’m excited for the world to finally hear us on a track together.”
Griff (real name Sarah Griffiths) was one of 2021’s greatest breakout singers. After first launching her career in 2019 and steadily gaining critical acclaim as well as a passionate fanbase, in 2021 she won the Rising Star award at the Brit Awards, scored her first hit single with ‘Black Hole’ followed by her debut mixtape One Foot In Front Of The Other soaring into the top 5 in the UK. Currently working on new music in 2022, Griff will also head off on a world tour this as well as support Dua Lipa on her Future Nostalgia tour.
Sigrid first came to acclaim after winning the BBC Sound of 2018 with her debut album, 2019’s Sucker Punch hitting number 1 in her home country and number 4 in the UK. Last year she returned with the single ‘Mirror’, her first new music in two years which racked up over 25 million global streams, followed by ‘Burning Bridges’ and the Christmas track ‘Home To You (This Christmas)’. She will launch her biggest ever UK and European tour this March, beginning in Manchester, with shows across the continent until the final date in Finland in August.
