Dora Jar releases new single 'Bumblebee'

Rising indie star Dora Jar today releases her new single ‘Bumblebee’, her first new music since signing with global record label Island Records and fresh from supporting Billie Eilish on dates on her Happier Than Ever US tour.

A bright, swinging indiepop track it is a joyous melting pot of sound with touches of electronica, tropical, pop and rock. It’s the type of song that takes multiple sonic twists and turn that keeps you intrigued throughout, with superb melodies that quickly become ear worms. The music contrasts with the lyrics, that tell of the heartache and feelings of dejection that come after a relationship breakdown.

“‘Bumblebee’ the song is an attempt to escape the painful reality of human experience and trade it with the perspective of a bumblebee, a creature who can see a higher frequency of light, a creature who has wings and can fly off the cold hard ground, a creature that lives in service of nature,” Jar says. “My problems seem silly when I remember the existence of these intelligent creatures who could never be bothered by the trivial things that bother me.”

The music video for ‘Bumblebee’ was directed by Jar herself and is coming soon. Featuring dance students Olive and Ophelia, the video was born after the girls started dancing to Jar’s music in their dancing class, inspiring their teacher to invite Jar to perform live in the class. Performing to Jar’s music live sparked the idea to have Olive and Ophelia feature in the video.

Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, Jar was first inspired to create music after spending time in her father’s homeland Poland in 2018 and started uploading videos of herself playing music to Instagram. She attracted the attention of producer Felix Joseph and soon found herself in a recording studio with Joseph in London, kicking off her career. Last year she released her debut EP Digital Meadow, followed earlier this year by comfortably in pain which attracted critical acclaim. Jar now counts stars such as Billie Eilish and Elton John as fans.
