CLYPSO releases her take on All Saints classic 'Pure Shores'

Alt-pop rising star CLYPSO has returned with new music which sees her reinterpret the 2000 All Saints classic ‘Pure Shores’.

Produced by Sydney’s Kilter, CLYPSO’s version remains faithful to the original but adds a little more bite and a harder, more alternative edge while still retaining its electronica essence.

“The idea to do the cover of ‘Pure Shores’ actually came from a pretty unrelated conversation with a friend about legacy British bands like The Prodigy, Faithless, Underworld, The Verve, Blur, Orbital etc,” CLYPSO says. “How cool they were and that they were literally the soundtrack of every Danny Boyle film. This reminded me of The Beach soundtrack and the next day I listened to Moby’s ‘Porcelain’, my fave from the soundtrack, and then ‘Pure Shores’. I’d never really listened closely to the lyrics of ‘Pure Shores’ before but this time round I did, and it was quite moving. I recorded my take on the vocals and took the idea to Kilter for production, bringing this 2000 classic into 2022.”

CLYPSO first came to attention with her 2017 single ‘YOLO’ and she has since become an artist in demand, writing and producing with major names such as The Avalanches, Kwame, and Konstantin Kersting and appearing in the top 10 of Spotify’s Australian Viral Top 50 plus hitting #1 on the triple j Unearthed Electronic and Hip-Hop chart. She has also made waves on the live music circuit with her energetic performance and has been selected as support for major acts including PNAU, Channel Tres and Art vs Science.

‘Pure Shores’ is out now via etcetc. You can buy and stream here.
