Aya Yves releases girl power anthem 'Smart Girls'

Aya Yves today releases the new single ‘Smart Girls’, the follow up to her debut single, March’s ‘(in)Sanity’. Re-inventing herself from folkpop artist Vendulka, Aya Yves has embraced an electronic sonic landscape which she explores further on ‘Smart Girls’. Produced by Xavier Dunn (Sarah Wolfe, Cxloe, Jack River) the track is a moody, immersive listen that constantly switches sounds and vibes, moving from a traditional electropop verse before moving to a dark and rumbling pre-chorus and a minimalist chorus that builds in intensity which matches the tension in the lyrics “You say you want a good thing / But you wouldn’t know a good thing if it hit you in the face,” Yves drawls. It is a brilliant restructuring of the traditional pop song formula and confirms Yves is one of the most innovative new artists making music in Australia today.
