Anna Arco releases new single 'Scar'

Sweden’s Anna Arco today returns with her first new music of 2021, the single ‘Scar’.
Featuring her close friend DEEREST, the track is a brooding, experimental pop-rock song. Opening with distorted, confused spoken words that remain just out of reach, Arco’s voice glides in and builds to a cinematic, full-blooded chorus with lyrics that symbolise finding your strength again after a period of hopelessness: “I’m diving down to the bottom of my wound - but I’m bringing something back this time.” Like everything Arco does, it is music that both envelopes and challenges you and has an unique, otherworldly beauty.
‘Scar’ is the third single to be released from Arco’s upcoming second album Sad Secret Songs due at the end of August, and follows ‘Trade’ and ‘Higher’. The album is an elegy to her best friend who passed away in 2018 and is inspired by multiple musical genres, including jazz, which Arco studied at university, hip-hop and Scandinavian indie musicians such as Susanne Sundfør, Björk and Emilie Nicolas.
Anna Arco is an artist that creates really special music which is always personal, emotive and has a way of winding its way into your heart. Sad Secret Songs promises to me a highlight of August, until then enjoy the beauty of ‘Scar’ below.
‘Scar’ is out now. You can download on iTunes and stream on Apple Music and Spotify.
