Young American rising star mxmtoon today releases her new single ‘i hate texas’, a song that will featured on her yet to be named and soon to be announced third studio album.

Co-written and produced with fellow singer-songwriter underscores, ‘i hate texas’ is a gorgeous, warm country-laced pop song with lyrics that detail post-breakup feelings of anger and despair as you want to get as far away from your ex as possible: ‘I'm moving states and I'll never admit / But you ruined New York, so I had to quit…Hoping, praying, begging that you're not in Austin / I hate Texas, but the exits have more room to run away from you.”

“Working on ‘i hate texas' felt like when I first started making music, like I was completely in my element,” mxmtoon says. “I felt inspired to get a little sarcastic and write a song with some kick to it, just as pure fun.”

‘i hate texas’ follows up the dance fun of single ‘post-post apocalyptic dance party' from the Lego Horizon Adventures game, and comes as mxmtoon is in the middle of a massive stadium tour across the USA with indie pop band AJR.

First releasing music when she was 17, mxmtoon has steadily built up a huge fan base as well as critical acclaim. Her first releases were beautifully stripped back, indiepop with minimal production, lots of ukulele and a truly endearingly bedroom pop feel. Over the years she has demonstrated her versatility and growth through exploring other genres including traditional pop, full bodied indie and also disco infused dance pop.

With music that always feels intimate and warm, mxmtoon easily captures your heart. With her honest and open personality, completely lacking in artifice and pretence, diving into her music is like catching up with a close friend. Her third album promises to be a treat, until it arrives sink into ‘i hate texas’ now.

‘i hate texas’ is out now via AWAL. You can buy and stream here.
