Lisa and Rosalía team up on powerful new single 'New Woman'

Published: 21 August 2024

Blackpink’s Lisa has released the next epic moment in her solo career with the single ‘New Woman’. It sees her team up with Spanish superstar Rosalía in what has to be one of the most iconic collaborations of 2024.

Following on from ‘Rockstar’, the first taste of Lisa’s rebooted solo career, released in June, ‘New Woman’ was written by Lisa and Rosalía with some of music’s heaviest hitters - Tove Lo, Max Martin and Ilya, with production from Martin and Ilya.

A delicious electronic pop track, it starts with Lisa switching between rapping and her singing voice, half way through it slows right down into a sultry, classic Rosalía soundscape before ramping back up the beat.

Also out now is the video to ‘New Woman’, filmed in Los Angeles and directed by Dave Meyers (Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande). A surreal and visually stunning video, with plenty of early 2000s references from flip phones to massive photocopiers, it features Lisa and Rosalía as almost two sides of the same person, at one point literally joined together via Rosalía’s lip ring and transforming into each other.

‘New Woman’ is Lisa’s second solo release this year, following ‘Rockstar’, after founding her own management company LLOUD Co., and partnering with RCA Records. ‘Rockstar’ has accumulated over 185 million Spotify streams to date and charted across multiple international charts, including hitting the top 100 on the Australian and US charts, and peaking within the top 50 in the UK.

Rosalía released her critically acclaimed third album Motomami in 2022 which hit number 1 in her native Spain and the top 40 in the US. Since then, she has released a slew of singles, most recently ‘Oral’, a collaboration with the legendary Björk.

‘New Woman’ is out now RCA Records/Sony Music Australia. You can buy and stream here.
