Today sees the release of British singer-songwriter Alice D’s third EP Where The Wildflowers Grow.
Preceded by the single ‘Diamond’ last month, the EP is a beguiling three track collection which trades on Latin and world music vibes. “The EP as a whole has more of an ‘organic’ & collective sound than my previous releases, with poetic lyrics that paint a picture & musical influences from Brazil & Spain,” she says.
Opener ‘Paper Roses’ is a mellow, dreamy track which details a false love and adds hints of 1970s folk pop into its melodies. ‘Diamond’ is as bold and direct as its namesake and has arguably the most traditional pop-R&B sound on the EP, with plenty of intriguing sonic directions. Closing track ‘Fairy Tales’ is a gorgeous ode to true love which has to be just that - pure love and support with no need for the fantasy and unrealistic expectations of fairy tales ‘Your love colours my sky / You put my insecurities to sleep / Don’t need fairy tales to fall in love’ she sings against tumbling melodies and swirling backing vocals.
Alice D is an artist who never stays still and this EP showcases her talent for continuously pushing her creative boundaries. To find out all about this new chapter in her music, we recorded a special video interview with her, watch below.
