London born, Dublin based duo ROOUE, made up of twin sisters Ro and Lou, today return with their second single ‘Flavour’. A delicious pop track which trades on a deep funk groove, disco vibes and a touch of R&B it confronts a subject that most of us can relate to after the year that was 2020 - the need for something, anything new: “I just need a new flavour” they sing.
“‘Flavour’ is about being bored of normal, monotonous life and the same bland relationships”, the duo explain. “It captures the moment when you decide to get more from life, get a taste of new flavours. The track resonates with us after being in quarantine - craving a sense of excitement and an escape from confinement.”
After growing up in London, Ro and Lou moved to Dublin in 2005 where they finished high school and studied at college. A deep rooted connection to their adopted home town has shaped their musical output, alongside the music of artists such as NAO, BANKS and Destiny’s Child. In October last year they released their debut single ‘What You Want’, a divine, low key pop track which switches between mellow verses and a staccato chorus driven by a electronic beat.
With an ability to create first class electronic pop with addictive melodies that get right into your head, and with more music promised for 2021, ROOUE are an act to keep a close watch on for your dose of new music in 2021.
‘Flavour’ is out now. You can download on iTunes and stream on Apple Music and Spotify.
