Kiwi artist Riiki Reid today releases the second single from her upcoming new project Crash & Collide, ‘The City’.

Continuing the theme she started with September’s ‘Drive’, ‘The City’ sees Reid embrace dance pop with a soundscape overflowing with synths, electronic beats, distorted vocals and euphoric instrumental breakdowns. Inspired by nights out with her friends at Wellington’s Club 121, ‘The City’ evokes crowded dancefloors and living in the moment.

“The dance world is something I’ve always been so a part of,” Reid says. “I want this EP to showcase that world in every sense and I want it to bring joy.”

Reid released her debut EP Newer Oxygen earlier this year, with lead single ‘Meet U Again’ gathering over 300k streams on Spotify alone. The EP showcased warm, earthy indiepop she made her name with since her first release in 2019. A former dance teacher and passionate dancer herself, on Crash & Collide Reid pays homage to her background and moves her sound away from indiepop into the realms of electronica, house and pop, of which ‘The City’ is a tantalising taste.

Always an artist that produces music of incredible depth and assuredness, Reid is proving her talent and versatility with this next chapter of her music, which is not only shaping up to be her most exciting to date but is guaranteed to make you move.

‘The City’ is out now via Warner Music. You can download and stream here.
