RARIA releases debut EP 'Boys Who Broke My Heart'.
Melbourne’s RARIA has released her debut EP Boys Who Broke My Heart.
Formally releasing music as Rachel Costanzo, the RARIA project was launched last year with the debut single ‘Will You Tell Your Girlfriend’, a gorgeous R&B-electro crossover track filled with such warmth, emotion, heartbeat and connectedness it was impossible for it to not seep into your soul.
Her following singles ‘Break Up With Her’ and ‘Maybe I Might Kiss A Girl’ followed and displayed a similar soundscape. ‘Break Up With Her’ is a more mellow, melancholic R&B track with the lyrics describing the heartbreak of seeing an ex with their new partner, while ‘Maybe I Might Kiss A Girl’ is more directed to the dancefloor with it’s mellow opener transforms into a synth heavy, 1980s tinged pop track.
All three singles are included on the EP and are joined by the new single ‘Tried To Love You’. It is a classic, breezy pop track with heartbreak at its core: “It’s going hurt baby / Don’t want to see you love something else / Cause you broke me in two when I tried to love you”.
“Boys Who Broke My Heart is an EP about the boys who bruised me emotionally and the lessons I’ve learned along the way,” RARIA says. “The past three years of my life have been such a transformational time. I’ve had my heart broken, questioned everything and had the rug pulled out from under me when I least expected it. At the same time, every event was an experience that helped shape me into the person and the artist I am right now. I’ve been opened up to new experiences and perspectives, I’ve been able to give myself closure when no one else could and I’ve been able to learn to love myself when I didn’t think I deserved it. So as much as they hurt me, I wanna say thank you. Fuck you, but thank you.”
Since the launch of this latest phase in her career RARIA has consistently showed a remarkable ability to create incredibly polished, highly addictive, expertly crafted pop music that can easily stand side by side with music being created by global superstars. This EP should be the launching pad to a highly successful career and we can wait to see what she produces next.
