Rising star Mila Nile releases new single 'Cranes'
Mila Nile may be a long way from her home country of Sweden, but one listen to her music and the roots of this now Sydney based independent singer-songwriter are abundantly clear. For the last couple of years, Nile has been producing smooth, electro synth pop oozing with that uber cool, warm-but-icy, effortlessly perfect vibe that the Swedes excel at. That’s not to say Nile is just the next artist on the Swedish pop conveyor belt. There is a uniqueness, a smartness and a real artistry in her music which has only gotten better and better as her career has progressed.
Today Nile releases new single ‘Cranes’, a song she says “laments the constant struggle of
being split between two homes on the opposite sides of the world.” Written 30,000 feet in the sky on a flight between Sweden and Sydney, the song reflects on the anguish of being away from those you love while also appreciating life away from home. The frenetic, jittering synth beats contrast against Nile’s melancholic lyrics and voice perfectly highlighting the anxiety the conflicting emotions can bring. “I can’t figure out a way to stay…the world keeps turning, I can’t wait…at least there’s only one world in between,” she sings. “Every time I leave behind my family, my culture and the calming cool of Sweden there’s a deep longing,” Nile says. “But Australia is my future, where I’ve found a life I love. This song is about embracing that tension – between staying true to your roots and exploring who you can be somewhere else.”
With ‘Cranes’, Nile is proving she is one of those independent artists who is ready to, and has everything it takes, to break out from the pack and make serious waves. This is brilliant pop music and we can’t wait to watch as Mila Nile grows into a top tier artist.
