Memphis LK releases new song 'Letters In Concrete'

Melbourne/Naarm-based singer, songwriter & producer Memphis LK has today released her latest single ‘Letters In Concrete’.

The single showcases a more gentle, intimate sound from Memphis without straying from her signature garage-electro pop. With lyrics both celebrating those she loves and the need to embrace change to feel completely free (‘nothing is set in stone’) it is an empowering track charmingly driving its message into your soul with Memphis’s unique, hypnotic vocals.

“‘Letters In Concrete’ is about being away from someone or something you love, leaving you feeling lost and incomplete,” she says of the song. “It’s about seeking clarity and strength in the darkness and emptiness but being overcome with doubt and uncertainty that you have the strength to do it alone. i wanted to juxtapose the idea of rigid concrete with the idea that nothing is forever - life is always flowing and changing, and when we accept that, maybe we can become that little bit more free.”

‘Letters In Concrete’ follows her June single, the driving electropop track ‘Green Light’, which followed her first release for Dot Dash records, 2019’s trancey ‘Roses’.

Memphis fell in sync with electronic music in her late teens, teaching herself Ableton and eventually combining early soul, pop and RnB influences with her love of underground electro, UKG, 2-step and breakbeat. She first came to prominence as part of the duo Saatsuma before launching her solo career in 2019 with the single ‘Speak Honestly’. With a soundscape that makes her stand out from the pack, Memphis LK is a true artist that makes music entirely her own way to her own rules and is a performer you can’t help but be drawn to.

‘Letters In Concrete’ is out now via Dot Dash / Remote Control. You can download and stream here.
