New Leony single 'Boots' released today
Not since the 1980s and Nena has Germany produced a global pop superstar, but 21-year-old Leony is the singer that can break that drought, and in considerable style. One of the most talented and remarkable new talents to emerge on the music scene in the last 12 months, Leony's new single 'Boots', released today is further proof she is about to take over the world.
Following her 2017 debut single, the lush, down-tempo 'Surrender', which was co-written with songwriting legend Billy Steinberg (Madonna's 'Like A Virgin'), 'Boots' is a storming, euphoric pop banger which showcases Leony's magnificent vocals and is evidence she is just at home on the dancefloor as she is with smooth ballads.
Written by Leony with David Björk, Andreas Moe (Tiesto, Hardwell, Avicii), & Elina Stridh (Maroon 5), the song’s lyrics convey empowerment and sticking to one’s beliefs: "If I'm gonna dig my grave/I'll be digging it with my boots" Leony sings in the chorus.
“I grew up in a very small town where being a musician is rather unusual," Leony explains. "It was always a dream of mine to perform and become an artist, but I never actually thought it was possible to get discovered in a small town. Some people doubted me, not because I had a lack of talent, but because they'd never seen anyone from our town succeed in the music industry, and they thought I couldn't get there either. It costs a lot to stand up to convention, but on the other hand, you have to believe in yourself and do your thing.”
Keep your eye on Leony - this is one newcomer who is going to become seriously big.
