Two of the most talented artists reshaping the Australian pop scene at the moment, Kota Banks and Ninajirachi have today joined forces to release ‘True North’, the first single from their new coilloborative project.
A shimmering, crisp experimental synth track that journeys from semi-acoustic to a rapid outburst of divine electro beats, Banks’ unmistakeable vocals compliment Ninajirachi’s always unique and entrancing production. “‘True North’ feels like the perfect encapsulation of both our solo music and our collaborative work together,” both artists said of the song’s release. “The basis of the track came together very naturally over a few hours one afternoon in the studio mid-late last year. It really feels like a medley of different styles that we both love so much.”
Kota Banks is one of Australia’s most unique singer-songwriters and recently released the EP Sweet & the Spice. With a sonic landscape that encompasses R&B, rap, synth pop and hip-hop, she has written and recorded with such artists as Cashmere Cat, Flume and Sophie.
Ninajirachi has been releasing music since she was a teenager and last year released her debut EP Lapland. Specialising in retro synth, she has been hand-picked to remix tracks for international artists such as Hermitude, Anna Lunoe, deadmau5 & The Neptunes.
