Karlou releases new single 'Bed Arrest'
Hailing from North Queensland, indie pop singer songwriter Karlou has released her new single ‘Bed Arrest’, her first release of 2023.
Written with Matt McGuffie (IVEY), ‘Bed Arrest’ was inspired by Karlou’s experience with sleepwalking and the resultant insomnia and fear it can produce. It is a dreamy, delicious track that moves from subdued, swirling verses with a hint of electronica into louder, guitar based choruses as Karlou’s frustration comes to a head.
"I have always been a tragic sleepwalker," Karlou says. "I'd often find myself in different places doing ordinary things and also stuck in vivid dreams, waking up in a panic - so much that I was afraid to fall asleep at night. Bed Arrest is a play on words of getting a 'better rest' and also the insinuation that I should be kept restrained to my bed."
Karlou first released music in 2019 with the synth-electro gem ‘Bad Choices’, followed by more singles, all with an electronic-indie-pop sound. She started moving into a more guitar based pop-rock sound with 2022’s ‘Bitter’, her biggest hit to date with over 60,000 streams on Spotify alone. A versatile, exciting artist with a real talent for insightful lyrics, Karlou is an artist that has a sound for everyone and someone you should get into right now. ‘Bed Arrest’ is the perfect place to start.
Karlou will be performing at Groovin’ The Moo on the Sunshine Coast on April 30. Tickets here.
