Melbourne born, London based JACOTÉNE has released her new single, ‘Forgive Me’.

A gorgeous, soul pop track with a smoky, emotive vocal that highlights JACOTÉNE’s incredible range, it has a soundscape that plays on the drama and uncertainty in the lyrics that explore romance, heartbreak and self-discovery. Moving from lush strings into a dramatic escalation of the beat as it bursts into the chorus before pulling back again into quietness as JACOTÉNE asks for forgiveness for loving too much.

“Forgive me if I loved you too much that I made you push me away / And forgive me if I’m asking too much but can I still love you?” she sings.

“I wrote ‘Forgive Me’ a year before I moved from Australia to London for my music career…most days everything feels new. I miss everything I know and love back at home,” JACOTÉNE wrote on Instagram. “Little did I know the song would up end meaning more to me now than it did when I first wrote it. Back then, it was just a way to process the feeling of being let down after giving someone your best. Moving to London felt like a fresh start, but the trust is, lessons like this follow you, no matter where you go. ‘Forgive Me’ became more than just a song. It became a reminder that loving deeply isn’t the mistake. The real lesson is learning who’s worth giving that part of yourself to.”

JACOTÉNE first came to prominence in 2022 when she won Triple J’s Unearthed High competition with her song ‘I Need Therapy’. This, and a series of demos she released as singles, led to her being signed to Epic Records in the UK, with her debut major label single, the 1990s trip hop inflected ‘Stop Calling’ released last year. This was followed earlier this year with ‘Stronger’, with her debut EP slated to drop later this year.
