Jack River releases new single 'Dark Star' ahead of 'Stranger Heart' EP dropping Valentine's Day

Australia’s Jack River today releases new single and video ‘Dark Star’ ahead of the release of her EP Stranger Heart on Valentine’s Day February 14. Following the first two singles from the EP ‘Later Flight’ and heartfelt ballad ‘Closer’, ‘Dark Star’ is an addictive buzzy, guitar pop track which taps into the dark obsession underlying young love.

River says she dreamed the bridge into being when she was 21: "a racy, guitar-y, sentimental song that made you feel like you're driving past your ex's house…[and] having your heart dragged through the room". It was theme she also wanted to carry over into the music video, telling Flood Magazine it was “a performance as a love letter to say goodbye, with the light and movement of a night at the fair. We filmed on some beautiful cameras, and I also took a DV camcorder out late one Saturday night with my best friend and filmed in the street. It was so fun to recreate the feeling of when I first wrote this song—driving in my car age twenty, alone with the night as my blank page.”
