Caroline & Claude release new single 'IDK You'

Sydney born, Adelaide raised sibling duo Caroline & Claude today release their third single, the eclectic and addictive ‘IDK YOU’.

Written by the duo and mixed by Grammy-Award winner Neal Pogue (Janelle Monae, N.E.R.D., Stevie Wonder), the track is a melting pot of sounds, veering from dance to soul to pop to bossa nova in a gorgeous chaos of sound that never ceases to thrill.

“We wrote ‘IDK YOU’ at the start of the year. Claude produced the song and we both wrote and sang on it,” Caroline says. “We love the unpredictable nature of the song; bossa nova to drum and bass to a hyper pop influenced section. The song is essentially about unwanted conversation and flirtatious behaviour from someone, whether at a party, at a bar or anywhere. Why are you insisting on getting my number when IDK YOU!?”

Also out today is the official music video for ‘IDK YOU’ which is both sassy and witty.

“The ‘IDK YOU’ film clip was a very exciting thing to do,” Claude says. “I had this initial theory that I wanted to execute. Our first single was a take on bossa nova, and primarily consisted of animations, and our second single was drum & bass, consisting of a home video feel filmed on a camcorder. Considering this third single was a bossa nova X drum & bass song, I wanted to include animations, whilst embracing the camcorder vibes of ‘It’s Not That Bad’. It’s the child of our first two singles! With the help of our lovely friend Annika Windsor, we created the ‘IDK YOU’ clip, filmed in locations across Sydney, and at our dear friend Andrew Fawcett’s d0p3 studio.”

First releasing music last year, Caroline & Claude are already showing huge promise on just their third single. They have a truly unique musical style which encompasses all genres and none and can authentically carry off songs with a charming DIY vibe such as debut single ‘Stir The Pot’ or with a highly polished finish like second single ‘It’s Not That Bad’. Caroline’s voice is gorgeously subtle and expressive and with airplay from BBC Radio 1 and US college radio with music this good the duo could well be the next Australian act to break big globally.
