Australian dance-pop trio Blusher today release their first new music of 2025 with the anthemic new single ‘Racer’.

First teased in January at their live shows supporting the Sugababes on their Australian tour, ‘Racer’ turns up the electropop to the max with a throbbing synth line, a multi-layered, house inflected chorus with a distorted vocal line as well as a dreamy, delicious trance breakdown in the middle eight. Of all their singles it is perhaps their most adventurous sonically, with the song defying a traditional pop structure, veering into multiple different directions making it a thrilling and at times euphoric listen.

The song is pick me up for when life becomes difficult and we let our inner light fade. ‘Gotta get you out of your head…we can think about it later / Don’t let it get to you baby, you’re a racer’, they sing.

“Being a Racer means being your own stunt person, the main character of your own life. It’s being the person to start the dance floor while the rest of the party is worrying about what people think,” Blusher says. “The song was written the morning after we went to a secret rave in downtown LA. We danced under a bridge and watched as people lit off fireworks from its highest point. The next day, sleep deprived and inspired, we bottled that feeling of euphoria and ‘Racer’ was born. We want ‘Racer’ to be the song that people turn up loud when they’re feeling sad or stressed, that helps them strut into the most unfazed, unstoppable, fastest version of themselves. It’s ultimately about our friendship and how we bring out the Racer in each other.”

After releasing their debut single in 2022, Blusher have gone from strength to strength becoming one of Australia’s most exciting new bands, currently boasting over 14 million streams globally. Their talent and potential is evident in their recent touring schedule, being asked to support major stars the Sugababes, Tove Lo, Aurora and The Rions in Australia, as well as performing at major festivals London Pride, BST Hyde Park (headlined by Kylie Minogue) and Latitude Festival. Fresh from supporting the Sugababes, Blusher are currently touring North America supporting Swedish duo NOTD.

Bringing pure pop back to the forefront of the Australian music scene, everything Blusher do generates pure joy. ‘Racer’ is the beginning of Blusher’s next era after releasing five singles last year, and judging by the confidence, assuredness and musical genius they exhibit on this song it is almost guaranteed 2025 is going to be one of Blusher’s best years yet.
