Becca Hatch releases dancefloor ready single 'Blessed'

Kamilaroi/Samoan artist Becca Hatch first came to prominence in 2017 when she won triple j Unearthed High’s Indigenous Initiative. Releasing her first single ‘2560’ in 2020, she quickly established a huge fan base, with her songs attracting streams in the hundreds of thousands, alongside critical acclaim, including two APRA Award nominees.

Today she releases her new single ‘Blessed’, which like her previous single ‘Without You’, sees Hatch switch her musical style around, embracing dancefloor ready disco tinged electronic pop. Written by Hatch with fellow Australian singer-songwriters KIAN and Blush'ko and produced by Tentendo, it is a invigorating, uplifting track that steams along with a soundscape that includes strings, distorted vocals and some of the most entrancing melodies you will hear this week.

“Sometimes friendships fall apart,” Hatch says of the song. “I wrote ‘Blessed’ about counting my blessings during difficult moments in my life. It's about the support I receive from my closest friends and family, but most importantly the encouragement I've learned to give myself.”

Also released today at 6pm AEDT is the music video for ‘Blessed’, directed by Matt Wilson. Following the theme of the song in realising the importance of family and friends in your life, the video shows Hatch giving love back to her community.

“The music video for ‘Blessed’ is inspired and produced by some of my favourite people in the world; my community,” Hatch says. “They've been both the creatives that inspire me and friends that keep me grounded. It's not that deep, it's just us being ourselves.”

2022 has been a massive year for Hatch. Alongside launching a new sound and chapter in her music, she has also played a huge 31 live shows to date with more to come to close off the year. Hatch is creating some of the best music of her career and is an artist that is truly coming into her own.
