Aluna teams up Diplo and Durante on new single 'Forget About Me'

British singer-songwriter Aluna has launched her 2022 with the new single ‘Forget About Me’ which sees her collaborate with producers Diplo and Durante, sharing writing and production duties with the pair.

The track is a electropop delight with a frenetic beat, tumbling synths and gorgeous vocals from Aluna which shimmer, multiple and swirl around your ears leaving you completely addicted.

"This song is about that moment when you’ve cleaned up the trash pile that was once your heart,” Aluna says about the song. “You’re feeling yourself and you’ve worked out how to be alone but the past comes back to haunt you, hungry for your new self love and abundant vibes. Those are the moments you have to stay strong and really forget about your old love so that new fresh love can waltz into your life. When the one that got away comes back...what you gonna do? That’s not what I call destiny, you deserve better."

Aluna has also released the music video for ‘Forget About Me’, directed by Reggie, who previously directed the video for her previous single 'Don’t Hit My Line’.

“The music video for ‘Forget About Me’ is an exploration of how to skip to that ‘new you’ feeling after a break up instead of all the drama we go through before we feel better,” Aluna explains. “I wanted to play with the idea of a futuristic game where if you win all is forgotten and you get to move on, easy as that.....I think someone needs to invent it for real though.”

Originally gaining success as part of the electronica duo AlunaGeorge Aluna launched a solo career in 2020 with her critically acclaimed debut album Renaissance. The album represented Aluna’s journey of “a black girl in an all-white British suburb back in the day” to a musician who dissolves culture, race, gender, and genre.

This May sees Aluna launch Aluna’s Noir Fever, in partnership with Pollen Presents, a new festival featuring an all-Black lineup while also shining a light on LGTBQ+ performers. Held May 27-30, 2022 in New Orleans, the lineup curated by Aluna features Jayda G, KAYTRANADA, TSHA and more.

Aluna has kicked off 2022 in style and with more new music promised soon, her solo career is set to have it’s greatest year yet.
