Alice D returns with new single 'Passion'

Singer songwriter Alice D has returned with new single ‘Passion’. It is her first release in almost a year and is another impressive track from an artist who continually pushes her creative boundaries.

‘Passion’ sees Alice embrace the Afro-Latin tinged sounds she first explored on her 2021 EP Where The Wildflowers Grow. It is a smooth, sensual track that evokes balmy summer evenings in a mix of pop and R&B sensibilities plus salsa and Cuban rhythms. Written by Alice and produced by Tim Blok, the song celebrates the heady sensations you experience in the first days of a new love: ”Your attention is a drug and I need it now…I need that passion,” she sings.

“I’ve loved those sounds for such a long time, and to have the freedom to experiment then finally find a way of incorporating them into my own work has really cemented my sound,” Alice says.

The official music video for ‘Passion’ is also out now. Conceptualised and styled by Alice and directed by Henry Croston (Mabel, Yung Filly, Liam Payne), it features a couple seductively dancing in a style inspired by Bachata Sensual, which is used to express romantic feelings without words. The effect of a hazy summer evening in a warehouse setting reflects the sensuality within the lyrics.

“I had the idea of creating a video at sunset, with the use of haze and the warm lighting we were able to replicate a hot summer's evening,” Alice says of the video shoot. “Having cutaways of the dancers and close-ups of movement heightened this sense of a passionate love affair. Together with the isolated shots of myself, this exaggerated this sense of longing for that person.”

Alice D first released music in 2014 and over the years has proven she is an artist of immense talent with a remarkable ability to authentically inhabit any genre she chooses.
