90s icons B*Witched celebrate 25th anniversary with new single 'Birthday'
Irish four piece band B*Witched - Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sinéad O’Carroll - were one of the era defining pop bands of the late 1990s and early 2000s and now 25 years on from the release of their debut self-titled album the original lineup have returned with a new single ‘Birthday’.
The song is an assured, smooth pop song with hints of R&B and shows the band have developed their sound while retaining their talent to create completely joyous pop music. Lyrically, the song tells of moving on from a relationship and into a new one: ‘I’m moving on and I’ve found somebody’.
“Whatever comes your way with a few good friends you can turn things around!" Edele Lynch says.
‘Birthday’ is featured on their 25th anniversary greatest hits collection C’est La Vie: The Collection, out now, which features 35 tracks, including all their hits, remixes and rare tracks.
After forming in 1996, B*Witched achieved major success when their first single ‘C’est La Vie’ hit number one in the UK and became a massive international hit, soaring into the top 10 in Australia and the USA. Their following three singles all hit number 1 in the UK, and after eight hit singles and two albums the band broke up in 2002. Reforming in 2012, they have occasionally released music in the past decade and with the band planning live shows right now, they are embarking on an exciting new chapter in their career.
