The Veronicas return with new single 'Godzilla' and announce the release of two new albums.
Australian pop icons The Veronicas today return with the single ‘Godzilla’, their first new music of 2021.
‘Godzilla’ is a powerful, dynamic track with throwbacks to the guitar pop sound of their earliest releases. Opening with a ferocious electric guitar, the song builds up to a raw, punk rock chorus. It is further evidence of The Veronicas ability to authentically inhabit whatever sonic landscape they chose to delve into.
Today the duo also announce they will be releasing two studio albums later this year: Godzilla, released on May 28th, followed by Human on July 2nd. The dual album release will focus on opposing sides of The Veronicas’ musical personalities - the public alter egos on Godzilla and the vulnerable songwriters on Human, with Lisa and Jess reuniting with their songwriting partner Toby Gad for the first time since their 2007 international hit single ‘Untouched’.
“We all create without limitations,” The Veronicas say of the writing partnership. “Throwing our deepest ideas at each other and following it to wherever it takes us. We focus heavily on the sonic layers of guitars and synth first. Toby allows us to melt genres together in a way we don’t get to with anyone else. We all create without any preconceived notion of what we are going to walk away with.”
Alongside the release of Godzilla and Human, The Veronicas will also be embarking on a national tour around Australia in June, their first in six years: Godzilla V Human. Tickets go on sale 12pm Wednesday March 31 with My Live Nation members having access to tickets during the pre-sale beginning at 11am Monday, March 29.
The Veronicas have been one of the most successful musical acts to come out of Australia in the 2000s. Their 2005 debut single ‘4Ever’ peaked at number 2 in Australia and charted across the world. They have since had 3 number one singles and three number 2 albums in Australia and scored major hits in the UK and US. With Godzilla and Human their first studio albums since 2014, The Veronicas are set to launch the next era of their career in style and capture our hearts all over again.
