SOFI TUKKER release new single 'Spiral' and video featuring Heidi Klum

American duo SOFI TUKKER, (lead vocalist Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern), today release their new single ‘Spiral’. It is the second taste of their upcoming third studio album BREAD, due for release on August 23.

‘Spiral’ is a pulsing synth-electronic pop track with euphoric melodies and a retro guitar refrain that brings to mind the Blondie 1980 classic ‘Atomic’. Lyrically, Hawley-Weld sings of a relationship that has run its course. “I tried so hard to convince me / Convince myself I’m happy…baby let’s face it, we can’t save it / It’s too late to fake a smile.”

“It's about coming to terms with the end of a relationship, but it sounds hopeful, dance-y and energetic,” Hawley-Weld says, with Halpern adding, “I've always loved ‘90s, early-2000s dance music, Eurodance kind of genre. We made this song with a nostalgic sound. It's a club banger that brings you back to 2002, and the video is perfect with Heidi [Klum].”

The accompanying music video, also out today, stars supermodel Heidi Klum. SOFI TUKKER will perform the song with Klum on the series finale of Germany’s Next Top Model on June 13th, a show which Klum hosts. “The song is contagious and fun, and I loved spending time with Sophie and Tuck, who are not only talented and full of ideas but also super interesting people,” Klum says. “Most importantly, I love that this video is all about leaning on great friendships during hard times.”

“Heidi is one of the most contagiously fun people I’ve ever met,” Hawley-Weld says. “She is a vibe elevator, and she’s so good at being excellent at what she does while not taking life too seriously. She made me shine brighter just by being in her presence.”

‘Spiral’ is the second single to be released from the band’s upcoming album BREAD, after the infectious ‘Throw Some Ass’. BREAD stands for ‘Be Really Energetic and Dance’ and the album is an embracement of life and being you. "BREAD is a way of being. It says devour what you desire; it says, 'Be Really Energetic And Dance' and do it in good company,” SOFI TUKKER say. “All around the world, people break bread together to connect and come to common understandings. That’s exactly what we hope this album does for people. It’s an invitation to put down our differences and get back in touch with what is fundamental, the bread and butter if you will. It’s a moment to abandon a scarcity mindset and dive into a state of abundance. It’s delicious, absurd, and a little naughty. Just like eating bread, listen to BREAD to get pure energy and resuscitate your insatiable appetite for life."

Forming in 2014, SOFI TUKKER have amassed over a billion streams over the past decade, and gained two Grammy Award nominations, including for their debut single ‘Drinkee’ which has achieved Platinum status in Australia. Their music is rooted in electronic-dance-synthpop but brings in a global feel with influences from other cultures as well as excursions into house and deeper experimental, abstract dance music.

SOFI TUKKER always impress, from their intoxicatingly perfect dance-pop, to their left field, brash and cheeky moments. BREAD is going to be an album to cherish, in the meantime sink into the delights of ‘Spiral’
