Rising Australian new talent Nyassa has released her third single ‘Electric Woman’, along with a music video directed by Nyassa herself with Ricky Sandham.

‘Electric Woman’ is a rousing, 1980s inspired pop track that celebrates powerful woman: “Raindrops falling from the sky don’t dare to rain on her / She’s something powerful / She doesn’t care what they say.” The song sees Nyassa shift her sound into a new gear - it is vigorous, energetic uncompromising and soaring with a beat and vocal that charges along with no chance at all of you getting out of its way - not that you would want to.

"This is one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written… It’s a new era,” Nyassa says. “The Electric Woman is my alter ego. She is the shoulder pads, she is the big hair, she is the confidence. I feel like we all have the Electric Woman inside of us. She is the whole universe. A power source. I channel my strength from her all the time!"

‘Electric Woman’ follows on from Nyassa’s debut 2023 single, the spectacular ‘Ghost’ (one of Women In Pop’s Top 10 tracks of 2023) and ‘Falling Apart’ and is another indication she is one of Australia’s most exciting young artists.

First coming to prominence as a backing vocalist for the Hilltop Hoods, Nyassa’s solo career has achieved incredible things in just 12 months, with ‘Ghost’ reaching the top 10 of the triple j Airplay Chart, and amassing over 150,000 Spotify listeners in her first year.

With music inspired by her love of the sounds of fashion of the 1980s, mixed with contemporary sonics, her music is both comfortably familiar and cutting edge, resulting in a truly mesmerising artist. With more music to come - "I have so many songs I’m excited to share with the world. I feel like the best music I’ve written hasn’t been released yet,” she says - Nyassa is just getting started and she is an artist you need on your playlists right now.

‘Electric Woman’ is out now via Island Records. You can buy and stream here.
