Australian pop trio Blusher today release their new single ‘24 Hours In Paris’. It is the third release from the next chapter in their career after their debut EP Should We Go Dance? was released in July last year.
‘24 Hours In Paris’ stays true to Blusher’s sound with a lush, electro-synth pop feel but introduces a subtle new twist to their soundscape. It is more restrained, more downbeat and has a more melancholic story - of trying to escape heartache by running away only to realise the pain is still there - which is embellished by their increasingly emotive vocals which dramatically soar towards the end of the song.
“‘24 Hours in Paris’ is our bittersweet darling,” Blusher say. “We started writing it after a D&M about the times that we’d done the “run away from your sadness” overseas trip ~ where you find yourself in a beautiful place, expecting it’ll heal you instantly, but really, you just end up eating a croissant in a gutter and overthinking. Sonically, it feels like a new colour of the Blusher palette - a different side to our sound that we’re super excited to share with people. We love the idea of taking a left turn from our last single, ‘Accelerator’. We want our music to be your soundtrack on the dance floor, but also for the ride home in the Uber, when you’re staring out the window with a single tear rolling down your cheek.”
‘24 Hours In Paris’ follows up January’s ‘Rave Angel’, a 1980s dipped synth banger, and March’s more hardcore dance track ‘Accelerator’. It comes off the back of an incredible 2023 which saw not only the release of their acclaimed debut EP, but also saw them support superstars Tove Lo and Aurora on their respective Australian tours and perform at The Great Escape in the UK and at SXSW Sydney. They have recently completed touring with Icelandic artist Dadi Freyr across the US, UK and Europe and will soon return to the UK for a headline show at The Waiting Room in London followed by an appearance at Latitude Festival in the UK. Currently, Blusher are touring Australia as support for The Rions.
With an uncanny genius for creating the kind of carefree, joyous pop music that harkens back to multiple golden eras of electro-synth-pop while still remaining completely contemporary with a unique twist, Blusher are undoubtedly one of Australia’s most exciting young bands. ‘24 Hours In Paris’ strengthens that reputation and is a track you will quickly fall in love with.
'24 Hours In Paris' is out now via Atlantic Records/Warner Music Australia. You can buy and stream here.
