The singular talent that is AYLA today returns with new single ‘Manic’. Following up her June release, the stunning ‘Go Slow’, AYLA has collaborated on ‘Manic’ with producer Sam Thomlinson of Oh My My.
A gritty, shape-shifting track that veers from distorted jazz and soul vibes to electro-techno, the song is an anthem for standing up for your rights and fighting to good fight. “This song came out quickly, in a writing session with Sam,” said AYLA. “He was quick to get some cool sounds down in the track and I just wrote what came to mind. The story I imagined when writing it was of a band of people fighting against oppression - I kind of visualised Game of Thrones meets stream-punk. ‘Manic’ is about standing your ground; staying for the fight, even when it seems crazy to do it.”
AYLA first made her mark on the music industry in 2014 with her hit single ‘Wish I Was’ which was the most played song by a female artist on Triple J that year. After a 18 month break, she returned to music with Go Slow’ in June, which also ushered in a new sound for AYLA, moving from her indie-folk-rock to electronica. Her debut album is expected next year. This new era of her career has showcased AYLA the artist at her luminous best. With remarkable talent for creating truly unique, daring and genre defying music this is one of the most exciting artists of 2020 and someone we should all be watching with interest.
‘Manic’ by AYLA is out now. You can download on iTunes and stream on Apple Music and Spotify.
