ASTON releases self-titled debut EP

Australian singer-songwriter ASTON has released her self-titled debut EP. Featuring her previous three singles ‘Girl Is A Gun’, ‘Killer Queen’ and ‘Firebomb’, plus her current track ‘Middle Fingers’ and new song ‘Heartbreak Club’ it is a remarkably assured and confident debut release.

The music covers an expansive soundscape and tracks like ‘Killer Queen’ and ‘Middle Fingers’ have a foundation of gritty R&B/hip-hop quickly giving way to electro tinged pop, while ‘Girl Is A Gun’ is as fierce as ever with its syncopated rhythms and rat-a-tat beat. ‘Firebomb’ is a soaring classic pop track, while closer ‘Heartbreak Club’ is a smooth, summery pop-tinged-with-reggae song whose upbeat sound reflects the empowering lyrics which celebrates giving a big f-you to heartbreak and broken relationships.

Growing up in a creative family on NSW’s Central Coast, ASTON has been forging a hugely successful career as a songwriter for some years, working on tracks for artists such as Ricki-Lee, Cosmo’s Midnight and Jordie Ireland. In 2019, her song ‘Next Level’ was featured in the movie Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw and was later covered by K-pop band Aespa, racking up close to 160 million views on YouTube. Her music has also been featured in BMW commercials and the television shows Insatiable and Lucifer.

ASTON may be her debut EP, but she is already staking a claim to be one of the greatest of the next generation of pop stars. With razor sharp songwriting, empowering lyrics, powerful vocals and sheer charisma and attitude, ASTON produces music that you just want to drown in. This is one artist to watch closely as she is only going to get better.
