The Blessed Madonna teams up with Kylie Minogue on latest single 'Edge of Saturday Night'

The Blessed Madonna (real name Marea Stamper) has teamed up with Kylie Minogue on her new single ‘Edge of Saturday Night’, the latest taste of her debut album Godspeed, due for release on October 11.
Written by The Blessed Madonna, Minogue, Jin Jin and singer-songwriter RAYE, ‘Edge of Saturday Night’ is a glorious electronic-synth dancefloor banger that celebrates the joy of Friday night tipping into Saturday and partying the night away. ‘Monday doesn't matter at all…Now it's 11:59 / We're on the edge of a Saturday night.’
The song was first conceived at the beginning of 2020 after a DJ set in Berlin, but took four years to come to fruition with the addition of Minogue vocals completing the song.
“This story is about edges”, The Blessed Madonna says. “When I was given the opportunity to begin an album, we were on the edge of lockdown. When I sat down to write lyrics for the very first time, I was on the edge of a brand new life. When I programmed and wrote the music that would become this song, I was on the edge of the next big leap into producing. When I made the friends, who became the lifeblood of this record, I was on the edge of a world of love and creativity that I barely hoped to dream of. But that’s just where the story begins. You see, then there was Kylie. Yes THE Kylie. When she came into my life through this song, it was even more surprising than dawn turning to dusk. She breathed an energy into ‘Edge’ and into me. So here we are together, Marge and Kiki… and all of you are invited.”
Minogue and The Blessed Madonna met for the first time in person in Ibiza last month, where they filmed the video for ‘Edge of Saturday Night’ at the iconic Pikes hotel - setting for Wham!’s classic 1983 ‘Club Tropicana’ video. The video is due to debut on 23 August.
“Almost 30 years after my first stay at Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, it was a total joy to revisit this iconic destination,” Minogue says. “I loved sharing this unforgettable moment with The Blessed Madonna and am so happy the excitement and energy of this hot August club adventure was captured in the video for ‘Edge Of Saturday Night’. I was so delighted to be asked by Marea to be part of this track and can’t wait for fans to hear it."
The Blessed Madonna first released music in 2013, and has not only released her own music but remixed tracks for some of music’s biggest names including Robyn, Elton John, Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa. Her highly anticipated debut album Godspeed is out on 11 October, just after she performs a run of shows in Australia as part of Listen Out. Tickets are on sale now.
